Sophie's Bio

Sophie Free started dancing at age six. By the time she was eighteen she had auditioned and been accepted at a full time dance college in London. The principal of the school being a very successful and well respected television choreographer and producer allowed the students a greater insight into all aspects of the performing world and after a three year course, Sophie secured a diploma in performing arts, specializing in Jazz and choreography.

It was only a week after leaving college that Sophie embarked on her first job. Her destination was Greece, little did she know that this was to be the first of over forty countries to which her dancing would take her. After various contracts in casinos and clubs in and around Europe, Sophie secured employment with Carnival cruise Lines and spent a year cruising around the Caribbean. Her talent and determination led her to leave Carnival and start work with Jean Ann Ryan Productions where she became Dance Captain and Company Manager on six ships for the Royal Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line. This also allowed Sophie the opportunity to travel to such places as Africa, India, Thailand, Vietnam to mention but a few.

As well as performing abroad Sophie has been able to showcase her talent at such prestigious venues as The London Palladium, Wembley Stadium for the American World Bowl and The Grosvenor House, London for The Variety Club Awards of Great Britain. She has also performed with Freddie and The Dreamers and violinist and international recording artist Doug Cameron.

Choreography has allowed Sophie to tap into her imagination and given her the opportunity to realize her creations at fashion shows and dancing festivals throughout the United Kingdom. She was also honored with an award for her modern group dance at the Chesham Arts Festival.

Sophie is skilled in Jazz, tap, partner work, modern dance and contemporary and is an associate member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance as well as a member of The British Actors’ Equity Association. While she is not performing she enjoys teaching class at various dance schools and vocational performing arts colleges.
